November, November, November. What are we going to do with you? That penultimate month, much like its siblings October and December, doesn’t have much going on until the back half. Sure, there’s raking leaves and watching football, but those are finite activities, relegated to the domain of Sunday afternoons. But streaming—streaming will always be there, and streaming will never end. Showtime is adding a whole bunch of new shows and movies to help comfort you during all hours, when the games are all done and the leaves are all bagged. Saddle up, because there’s a whole lot of new stuff coming down the pipe.
Amongst the new TV show titles is Escape At Dannemora, the new Ben Stiller-directed thriller based on a 2015 upstate New York jailbreak. The miniseries stars Benicio Del Toro, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano. Also premiering is Shut Up and Dribble, a Lebron James-produced docuseries narrated by acclaimed sports journalist Jemele Hill that looks at “the changing role of NBA athletes through the lens of our shifting cultural and political environment,” per showtime. Also returning is Jim Carrey’s breakout bizarro-comedy hit Kidding.
Showtime has a wide array of new movies coming your way, as well, with everything from Field of Dreams and The Patriot to The Usual Suspects and Frances Ha. The channel is also adding new “streaming collections” that collect movies of a similar vibe in one place for your uninterrupted enjoyment. These collections include themes like “80’s Night,” with Mystic Pizza, Scarface and Rain Man, and “Smooth Criminals” with cuts like Billionaire Boys Club and Baby Driver.
