James Blake Details New Album Assume Form

On Wednesday, James Blake announced that his fourth album Assume Form will be released on Jan. 18 via Republic Records, after teasing it on social media, and in advertisements in London and New York City. One of the most atmospheric hints came from a video the English singer-songwriter shared on Instagram and Twitter, showing red-hued scenes of London in the background and possible song lyrics written across them.

Assume Form will feature performances from Travis Scott and André 3000 (both of whom Blake’s worked with in the past), along with Metro Boomin, Moses Sumney and Rosalía. Those who preorder the album here will instantly have access to Blake’s track “Don’t Miss It,” which came out in May of 2018.

It’s been a busy few years for Blake, who released his last record The Colour in Anything in 2016. Since then, he co-wrote “Element” on Kendrick Lamar’s platinum-selling DAMN., collaborated on the celebrated Black Panther soundtrack and featured on Travis Scott’s song “Stop Trying to Be God,” to name a few of his projects. There’s no telling what exactly Assume Form will bring, as the experimental artist is always defying expectations.
