There’s really no introduction that will do this justice. Just watch, and make sure you stay for the full two minutes:
“There’s got to be some way to stop him.”
“Well if there is, I don’t know it.”
“It’s funny how a big lie can make us all kids again.”
“I can build a wall around your homes that nothing can penetrate.”
I checked extensively to see if this clip was fake, because frankly it’s a little too on-the-nose. Alas, it’s not—it’s an episode from a TV show called Trackdown, and you can watch more here.
There’s really not much more to say about this, except that the Simulation Hypothesis is correct and we’re living out some kind of weird meta-narrative that appeared symbolically on TV more than 60 years ago. Either that, or it’s a weird coincidence. In any case, Trump should think about wearing that moon-and-stars robe at his next rally.
If nothing else, there’s a happy ending, and one we can all keep in our hearts as we plod on in this administration: “You’re under arrest, Trump.”
