Please Welcome Our Next Late-Night Host, Lilly Singh

NBC has announced that YouTuber Lilly Singh will step into the role of the network’s newest late-night host.

Singh said in a statement, “An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late night show? Now that is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild.”

At only 30 years old, the internet comedian, musician and collaborator will take over Last Call with Carson Daly’s slot with her new show, A Little Late with Lilly Singh.

Singh will be the first female late-night host on a Big 4 network in nearly two decades, i.e., since 2000-2001, when Cynthia Garrett hosted NBC’s Later, the predecessor to Last Call with Carson Daly. Prior to that, Joan Rivers did a short-lived stint on Fox’s The Late Show more than 30 years ago.

You can see Singh claim her throne behind the desk with September’s premiere of A Little Late with Lilly Singh on NBC. In the meantime, watch Singh raise a glass to A Little Late with Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon below.

Note: This post has been updated to include mention of Cynthia Garrett’s tenure.
