The Criterion Collection Launches New Streaming Service, The Criterion Channel

The Criterion Collection has officially launched its new streaming service, the Criterion Channel. It will feature its own catalog of over 1,000 important films from around the world, along with a constantly refreshed slate of Hollywood, international and independent films.

The service was announced back in January with a number of incentives for early subscribers, including reduced pricing and an exclusive Movie of the Week. A Criterion Channel subscription will also grant access to the channel’s slate of exclusive programming, including the new Sunday Spotlight, a weekly movie marathon focusing on a different genre, director, star or theme each week. Other programming includes Tuesday’s Short + Feature, the Friday double bill and Criterion’s 15-minute-per-month film school.

New subscriptions come with a 14-day free trial, and after that the Criterion Channel costs $10.99 per month or $99.99 per year. The service is available (as of noon ET today, April 8) on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku, iOS and Android devices.
