Injury Reserve Sip "Koruna & Lime" in One-Shot Video for New Single from Their Self-Titled Studio Debut

Arizona art-rap trio Injury Reserve—MCs Ritchie With a T and Stepa J. Groggs, and producer Parker Corey—will release their self-titled debut studio album on May 17 via Loma Vista Recordings, and they’re raising a glass of “Koruna & Lime” in celebration. The fierce, skeletal new single arrives alongside a cheeky one-shot video, directed by Corey, as all the up-and-coming outfit’s visuals are.

Shot at Pollution Studios in Los Angeles, the “Koruna & Lime” video gets in your face in a hurry, with an upside-down Ritchie banging his head directly at Corey’s lens. Stepa speaks his mind while seated on a camera dolly, reflecting, “Never thought I’d be gettin’ paid offa these rhymes / Ain’t it funny sometime how things align?” Ritchie returns to deliver “that spaz rap” as discordant horns join the mix, later raising a glass to catching us “in [his] next life” over acrobatic A-Trak scratches. All the while, Corey doesn’t take us behind the scenes such much as inside them, laying the video’s artifice bare and even calling attention to the camera itself. Injury Reserve are laying claim to a wavelength all their own—even their latest single’s title takes something mundane and spins it in an unexpected direction.

Injury Reserve opener “Koruna & Lime” follows buzzy previous Injury Reserve singles/videos “Jawbreaker” (ft. Rico Nasty and Proteens) and “Jailbreak The Tesla” (ft. Amine). Odds are the trio out of Phoenix won’t be able to say they “don’t get enough shine” much longer.
