Ever wonder what goes into producing one of those stand-up specials that Netflix pumps out every Tuesday? Or what it’s like to live life on the road, a professional vagabond drifting from airport to airport, with the Skymiles and rental car rewards to prove it? Or how it feels to spend months, sometimes years, distilling your very essence into an hour of comedy, and then just hitting the erase button and starting from scratch once you actually let it out into the world?
Iliza Shlesinger has all the answers. And a cute dog, too.
The stand-up veteran has teamed up with Comedy Dynamics to bring us Over and Over, a documentary (or, as they’re calling it, a “fan-u-mentary”) that takes you behind the scenes of the creation of Shlesinger’s most recent Netflix special, Elder Millennial. The movie follows Shlesinger throughout the tours that lead up to Elder Millennial, including USO trips, and reveals the connection Shlesinger has with her fans.
“We created something special for the fans, new and old, as a way to say thank you for always being there and supporting me,” Shlesinger says in a press release. “Words cannot express my gratitude to them for always showing up. Over and Over is as much about them as it is about me.”
Over and Over arrives through the Comedy Dynamics Network on July 2, 2019, and will be available through iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and such providers as Charter, Spectrum, Dish and more. To get an early taste of what to expect, check out the first trailer below.
