King Krule Has New Music on the Horizon

The universe’s favorite blue-toned, baritone crooner—yes, that redheaded, unassuming singer-songwriter King Krule—is back in the studio.

Archy Marshall, the man/myth/legend beyond the moniker, took to Instagram to post a low-res photo of him playing guitar in a Manchester studio accompanied by the caption “Nxt rcrds comin.”

The status of the album is entirely unknown (we’re just working off of an Instagram post, folks), but it looks like the musician isn’t wasting any time piecing together his first original LP since late 2017.

Marshall released his acclaimed sophomore album The Ooz in October of 2017, which we described as “artfully brooding, grime-y thing that stands as a terribly unique and nightmarish account of what it could sound like to spiral out of control.” The musician released a short film of performances from the album titled Live on the Moon and its accompanying vinyl in March 2018, and welcomed his first child a year later.

Stay tuned for updates on the follow-up, but in the meantime, check out Marshall’s Instagram post below, and revisit our review of The Ooz here and Marshall’s separate Instagram page dedicated to photos of the sky reminiscent of its album artwork.
