André 3000 Joins the Cast of Jason Segel’s AMC Anthology Series

ATLien and former half of OutKast André 3000 has joined the cast of a new anthology series on AMC. 3000—real name André Benjamin—will join “a group of ordinary people who stumble upon a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life,” per a press release, in Dispatches from Elsewhere. And wouldn’t you know it, the mystery is even more mysterious than they could have imagined. AMC has also promised the series will include “viewer engagement elements across multiple media platforms,” and no, we’re not sure what that means, either.

Dispatches comes from the creative brain of Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall), who will also star in the series and direct the first episode. Executive producer/director Althea Jones has also signed onto the project. Jones recently directed the Facebook Watch series Queen America starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as episodes of a forthcoming Hulu project, Dollface.

This won’t be Benjamin’s first foray into the world of television. In 2006, he created the Cartoon Network animated series Class of 3000, featuring a successful musician leaving showbiz to teach at an Atlanta performing arts school.

A compelling new TV show would be a perfect tie-in for an OutKast reunion, André. Just saying.
