Metallica Announces ABCs of Metallica Children's Book

2019 has brought us some weird shit: a humanoid bastardization of Sonic the Hedgehog, a literal dispute over the legal ramifications of using Pepe the Frog’s likeness, a faux-country song that has reigned (and still reigns) at the top of the Billboard 100 for 14 weeks and some headlines about Juggalos failing facial recognition software. With half of the year already in the bag, is there any territory left uncovered?

Well, yes: an illustrated ABCs of Metallica children’s book, of course.

The apparently now kid-friendly band has announced the release of an illustrated children’s book that looks at the history of Metallica from, well, A to Z.

Co-authored by Howie Abrams (Hip-Hop Alphabet) and illustrated by Michael “Kaves” McLeer, each letter of the alphabet highlights a moment from the band’s “journey from Garage Days to Master of Puppets to fun facts about us,” according to the band’s website.

The book is scheduled for release on November 26—so, you know, just in time for Christmas. You can pre-order the book here. Consider bundling it in a gift basket with the band’s aged whiskey.. Or their pilsner. Or their coffee.

A portion of all sales will go towards the band’s All Within My Hands Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting against hunger and supporting workforce education.

While you wait and anticipate the book’s release, check out our list of the 25 Best Metallica songs here and the band’s Instagram announcement and 1999 performance of “Master Of Puppets” from the Paste archives below.

We’re having a bit of fun with our latest book release, “The ABCs of Metallica,” available in stores and online on November 26th. Not only do you get a rhyming, illustrated history of Metallica from A to Z, but a portion of the proceeds from your purchase will go directly to @allwithinmyhandsfoundation, assisting us in supporting workforce education and the fight against hunger.
