Listen to of Monsters and Men’s Dance-Inducing New Song “Wild Roses”

Giving another taste from their forthcoming album, Of Monsters and Men have released their new song “Wild Roses.”

Stepping away from their usual folk-nuanced mountain sound heard on Beneath The Skin and My Head Is An Animal, “Wild Roses” sees Of Monsters and Men delve into a more pop-oriented groove. With soaring melodies and introspective lyrics, the song is sonically upbeat but delves into the tribulations and slow recovery from pain.

“The song shows an introverted side to the album and is influenced by a bit of dance music and Joseph Campbell’s ‘The power of myth and what it is like to lean into your sadness,’” co-vocalist Nanna Hilmarsdóttir said in a statement.

The song is the second song from Of Monsters and Men’s forthcoming third album Fever Dream, which is out July 26 via Republic Records. The album will be the Icelandic band’s first since their 2015 sophomore release Beneath The Skin, and will detail their growth as a band as they continue to make music that aims to inspire.

The band previously released their single “Alligator” in May. Whereas “Wild Roses” is based in upbeat pop, “Alligators” sees the band take on electric guitar where they have a more pop-rock presence that beckons the comparison of Grouplove, The Naked And Famous or Passion Pit.
