New on Netflix: All the Movies and TV Coming in November

According to calendars, the internet and other such trusted sources, 2019 is nearly over. Hard to believe, we know, but sure enough, Netflix is adding a new batch of film and TV titles to its ever-fluctuating library, concrete evidence illustrating time’s flight. We’ve sorted through said titles to provide you with the following November cheat sheet.

The Irishman, of course, is where we must begin, as the star-studded Martin Scorsese mob epic many years in the offing finally makes its way to Netflix on Nov. 27 (and select theaters Nov. 1). Early reviews put the film at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that The Irishman—an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci—lives up to the ungodly amount of talent on either side of Scorsese’s camera. There’s plenty more in store by way of Netflix originals, as well, including David Michôd’s Timothée Chalamet-led medieval drama The King (Nov. 1), John Green adaptation Let It Snow (Nov. 8), Alicia Vikander-starring psychological thriller Earthquake Bird (Nov. 15), Netflix’s debut original animated feature in Santa Claus origin story Klaus (Nov. 15), so-bad-it’s-good-looking holiday romance The Knight Before Christmas (Nov. 21) and Romany Malco-starring holiday heart-warmer Holiday Rush (Nov. 28). And noteworthy licensed films arriving on Nov. 1 include Hunter S. Thompson-inspired trip Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the first three films in The Matrix franchise (as we look ahead to the fourth), an unspecified iteration horror classic Rosemary’s Baby, ingeniously idiotic Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy Step Brothers, newly serialized horror-comedy Zombieland, iconic musical romance Grease and Billy Bob Thornton Oscar winner Sling Blade, with a handful of eye-catching titles—Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi hit District 9 (Nov. 4), Carey Mulligan-starring historical drama Suffragette (Nov. 16) and David Ayer cop thriller End of Watch (Nov. 23) among them—to follow later in the month.

That brings us to the small screen, where Netflix is delivering a smattering of TV and comedy titles worth looking out for in November. The most-anticipated of these additions is all but certainly Season Three of The Crown (Nov. 17), with Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) ascending to the throne as Queen Elizabeth II. Colman’s monarch, an older and (one assumes) wiser iteration of Claire Foy’s character from The Crown’s acclaimed first two seasons, is beset on all sides by threats to her sovereignty, as England in the Swinging Sixties confronts an economic downturn and fierce nationalism, and the royals are scrutinized as aristocratic freeloaders. Elsewhere in TV, we have: Netflix “Television Event” American Son (Nov. 1), a Kerry Washington-starring adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway play; Season Three of coming-of-age tale Atypical (Nov. 1), starring Keir Gilchrist as a college-bound 19-year-old on the autism spectrum; all four seasons of iconic Billy Eichner comedy series Billy on the Street (Nov .1); a self-explanatory new season of Queer Eye: We’re in Japan! (Nov. 1); Season Two of subversive surprise hit The End of the F***ing World (Nov. 5); animated Dr. Seuss adaptation Green Eggs and Ham (Nov. 8); Nasty Cherry docuseries I’m with the Band: Nasty Cherry (Nov. 15); and Season one of Bravo’s Connie Britton-starring podcast adaptation Dirty John (Nov. 25). And comedy titles to watch for include Seth Meyers’ debut Netflix stand-up special Lobby Baby (Nov. 5), the incredibly welcome return of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj: Volume 5 (Nov. 10), Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) comedy special Jeff Garlin: Our Man In Chicago (Nov. 12), Iliza Shlesinger’s fifth (!) Netflix special Iliza: Unveiled (Nov. 19) and Mike Birbiglia’s The New One (Nov. 26), among others.

That’s it for the additions—though we hate to leave you on a down note, Netflix loses quite a bit in November, so maybe brace yourselves. Nov. 1 brings the most significant losses in terms of quantity: Departing that day are The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Sixth Sense, Groundhog Day, Scream, Road House, Caddyshack (ditto Caddyshack 2), 300, Gran Torino, As Good as It Gets, 42, Little Women and more. Later in the month, we lose Richard Linklater’s Boyhood (Nov. 25) and Disney-Pixar’s Coco (Nov. 29), too, and if you let those gems slip through your fingers, quite frankly, you have only yourself to blame.
