Bright Eyes Announce 2020 World Tour

Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes are back, detailing on Tuesday their upcoming world tour, which includes about a month of U.S. shows. Lavender Diamond and Lucy Dacus will provide support on the tour’s Stateside legs.

The early-2000s indie-folk standouts will perform in Tokyo, Japan, on March 23 before beginning their tour in earnest in Spokane, Wash., on May 14. They’ll make 16 more stops in the States, culminating in a June 20 show at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, N.Y., alongside Japanese Breakfast and Dacus, before heading to Europe and the U.K. in August and September.

Bright Eyes first reemerged in late January, signing to Dead Oceans, announcing a handful of shows and putting an end to a nearly decade-long hiatus. Today’s announcement brings them ever further back into the limelight, though Oberst has hardly left it of late, between his solo work and his acclaimed collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers, Better Oblivion Community Center.

Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nathaniel Walcott haven’t put out a new Bright Eyes album since 2011’s The People’s Key (and a 2016 box set of remasters from their back catalog), but judging by the recent teaser video the band released, they’re at work on an ambitious new record. We’ll keep you posted on that LP, which has yet to be formally announced.
