Everything We Know About Star Wars: The High Republic‘s Books and Comics So Far

Thanks to Star Wars: The High Republic, we’re finally getting stories from a new time period in a galaxy far, far away. Set 200 years before Episode I: The Phantom Menace, The High Republic is a “publishing-led Star Wars storytelling initiative” that features interconnected books and comics from various publishers.

A press release explains that The High Republic, which was previously titled “Project Luminous,” is “set in an era when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their height, serving and protecting the galaxy.” The promotional video below strikes Arthurian and Wild West vibes, likening the Jedi of this time to both Knights of the Round Table and Texas Rangers of the Republic’s frontiers. We’ll also get to see new villains in the form of “space vikings” called the Nihil. Their motto? “You can’t take it with you, but we can take it from you.”

In true Star Wars fashion, the main details are still under wraps. But we do know that something called the “Great Disaster” kicks off The High Republic’s drama.

Books and comics for adults, teens and children will roll out in phases over the coming years. Phase I is called “Light of the Jedi,” and its first titles will debut at Anaheim’s Star Wars Celebration in August 2020. Here’s what we know about the first five releases so far:
