Irish singer Lisa Hannigan got her start as a backup singer in Damien Rice’s band, her fabulously breathy vocals brightening up most of Rice’s recent work. In 2009, she ventured out on her own and recorded her first record Sea Sew to much critical acclaim. The whirlwind tour that followed inspired Hannigan’s upcoming album Passenger—which will be released on Sept. 20.
“Many of [the songs] were written while I was away from home or on the road, and
the feeling of transience and nostalgia that this constant traveling evoked seemed to
seep into every song, ” Hannigan says in a press release.
