“Equal to a dinosaur in size and with more pipes than London’s entire water mains, The Organ at All Souls Church in New York was a gargantuan wooden beast that I would spend three hours attempting to tame on a muggy early morning in February 2012.”
Singer/songwriter Cate Le Bon had her work cut out for her. The groundwork for her sophomore album CYRK was already laid, but recording live sessions with Winston Case at the All Souls Church in New York was something new. “The organ brought about hauntingly stark qualities to all the songs and reinvented them,” said Le Bon. The experience was unnerving, surreal and incredible.
From the session, Le Bon produced three hauntingly beautiful renditions of her work. You can watch all three performances below. Cate Le Bon’s latest album, CYRK released earlier this year. Her new EP, CYRK II, is due out on Aug. 21 via The Control Group.
