Memphis-based Lucero unveiled the official music video for their song “Women & Work” from the album of the same name, which was released earlier this year.
Although the band’s been making music for 14 years, this is their first official music video. “Our fans have made videos over the years, we’ve never made one ourselves until now,” lead singer Ben Nichols said. “Why? Basically because we’re unorganized and lazy.”
The video was shot in Mississippi by Jonathan Pekar, head of the film department at Memphis’ legendary Ardent Studios. The clip shows the band crashing a party on the lake, and trashing their only means of transportation.
“That’s the idea behind this video, to showcase the band’s right of passage from vans to tour buses,” Pekar said. “And what better way than with friends, a catapult, moonshine and senseless destruction? Good times!”
