With scraggly hair, a pale complexion and thick glasses, Allen Stone’s appearance doesn’t exactly scream Motown. Out of the Seattle-based musician’s wiry frame, however, comes one of the most arresting soulful wails in music today, and with the help of a lively backing band he’s been redefining the genre since the release of his self-titled debut album last year.
Stone recently took to Robert Lang Studios to record a cover of the Tingsek song “Six Years,” which will be included as a bonus track on a new vinyl version of Allen Stone. Fortunately the cameras were rolling, and the result is an intimate, black-and-white video of the session.
