Since Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. formed in 2009, Paste has seen them grace a variety of stages. From their appearance at our South by Southwest party in 2011 to a performance in our very own office, we’ve lauded the pair, which consists of Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott, for their synthy sound and dance-friendly live show.
We caught up with the duo, fresh on the heels of the release of latest EP Patterns, on a rooftop in Brooklyn, N.Y., for a particularly special performance. The band stripped down their sound to just an acoustic guitar and a small synth to perform “Dark Water,” peppering the performance with whistles and, of course, their winning harmonies.
Check out the acoustic performance of “Dark Water” in the player below. Our friends at Warby Parker even provided some new shades for the sunny Brooklyn day. You can check out a few shots of the guys in their sunglasses in the gallery at the bottom of the page.
