Singer-songwriter Johnathan Rice hasn’t released any new music since his record I’m Having Fun Now with girlfriend and musical partner Jenny Lewis came out back in 2010. Now, Rice is making his mark with his deep voice and sweet melodies on his third solo record Good Graces.
On latest single “Lou Rider,” Rice channels his inner Lou Reed with a “groove that is kinda Low Rider.” The song is an upbeat, alt-country track that showcases Rice’s husky vocals complemented by sweet backing vocals from Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins. These ladies aren’t the only contributors to Rice’s album: the lovely Z Berg of JJAMZ makes her mark on some of Good Graces’ other tracks.
Rice’s third solo record is released today. Although Good Graces is Rice’s main focus right now, it’s not the only project on his radar: he’s also teamed up with Jenny Lewis once again to score upcoming film Song One.
