It hasn’t been long since Houston, Texas band The Tontons wowed us with their live show at Aloft Houston, from frontwoman Asli Omar’s sultry vocals to the energetic instrumentals of the crew backing her up. After debuting a few new tracks for live audiences (and sufficiently whetting our appetites for their forthcoming full-length, due out next spring), the band is finally ready to release one of those new songs to the world.
“We’ve never been more excited to record our music, especially music that’s the result of our real life experiences as a band,” said Omar. “Its the most honest we have ever been and a direct reflection of the past few years of our lives.”
The Tontons have been playing together since 2007, and in addition to Omar the band includes Tom Nguyen on bass, Adam Martinez on guitar and Justin Martinez on drums. Their forthcoming full-length was mixed by Dave Boyle (Black Joe Lewis, Okkervil River, Robert Plant), and their tour schedule seems to reflect the growing demand for their infectious brand of indie rock (including an appearance at Paste Untapped Houston).
