As the holidays sneak up on the rest of us, many musicians have long been recording festive music for the winter months. Others, though, are going back and revisiting their original work that happens to have a tie-in with the season. For Stephen Kellogg, his track “Thanksgiving” may have seemed like a natural song to break out in November, but his new video almost didn’t come together
“When I got a call about making a second video for ‘Thanksgiving,’ I was skeptical because
I felt we had said what we needed to say in the official video,” remembers Kellogg. “I realized we would be shooting a live take with interesting sounding singers
I had never met: Okay, I’m listening.”
The new video was recorded in one take in a church in Brooklyn with the help of The Peace Industry Music Choir and Kellogg’s children, making it a particularly apt representation of what the song is about.
Kellogg knew he was in when his daughters were also invited to participate in the filming.
“I never miss an opportunity to be with my girls,” said Kellogg.
Watch this unique take of “Thanksgiving” from Kellogg’s album Blunderstone Rookery, released earlier this year.
