When Neko Case and Kelly Hogan join forces for a project, it’s already a pretty sure bet that the results are going to be, well, awesome. Throw in Ed Helms, Yo La Tengo, Patton Oswalt, Aimee Mann and a wealth of other talents all for a charitable cause, and you’ve got 2776, an album supporting education in struggling communities with OneKid OneWorld.
The project began thanks to Rob Kutner (The Daily Show, Conan) and the Levinson Brothers (The Tonight Show, Comedy Central), and boasts 28 hilarious satirical tracks that cover everything in America from sex to sports to technology. The album will be released independently via CD Baby on July 4, and all of the money will be donated to OneKid OneWorld to promote education in Kenya and El Salvador.
Listen to Kelly Hogan and Neko Case take on sci-fi narratives from the female perspective, poking fun at the fact that the fantasy clearly revolves around the minds of teenage guys. Listen to the song “These Aren’t The Droids” in the player above, and look out for 2776, on sale July 4. 2776 is available for pre-order here.
