The musical arm of the nonprofit Children’s Cancer Association, MyMusicRx, has created an eclectic, new video concert series called LIVE from the Heart. The first iteration of the series features folk group Black Prairie, led by multi-instrumentalist Chris Funk who also curates the performances.
LIVE from the Heart brings professional musicians into the Children’s Cancer Association’s Portland, Oregon offices for an intimate performance to benefit severely ill children. The series has hosted performances by Amos Lee, Frank Black, Rhett Miller and Hurray for the Riff Raff.
MyMusicRx seeks to aid ill children through music music, from instrument lending to personalized bedside sing-a-longs to concerts like the LIVE from the Heart performances. The organization also offers mymusicrx.org, which gives kids access to music games, song recordings and video greetings from professional musicians. Watch Black Prairie vibrantly open up the series in the video above, and for more information on how you can get involved go to MyMusicRX.org.
