Roadkill Ghost Choir, the Florida-based band whose rise from Reddit forums to a national touring schedule has already earned them a formidable fan base, is set to release their debut full-length In Tongues this fall. The album, which follows last year’s Quiet Light EP, was recorded in Athens, Georgia as well as their studio in hometown Deland, Florida and produced by Doug Boehm. The album, although a long time in the making, features tracks that came together quickly alongside the ones that took longer to flesh out.
“I think about half the album was written way before we recorded it,” said vocalist Andrew Shepard when we caught up with the band at Bonnaroo. “The other half was written like the month before we recorded it. It was a terrifying process, we’ve never done anything like that before.”
The result of the varied approach to songwriting is an exciting build from what we heard on Quiet Light, with a fuller instrumentation that leans a little further toward rock.
