Memphis Dawls have been performing together since high school, and if opening slots for Jack White and Emmylou Harris coupled with a growing fan base well outside of Tennessee are to be trusted, their chemistry on the stage has given them a real momentum. Their debut full-length, Rooted In The Bone, was recorded at Ardent and Sun Studios in Memphis and released last year, and now the band has revealed a music video for album track “Skin Like A Cage.”

The video was filmed at three locations in Memphis (including one of their favorite dive bars The Buccaneer) and stars the band’s good friend Annie Gaia. It follows a day in the life of the character, making for a fitting representation of the lyrics.

“There are several songs on the album we have visualized, but this was a strong first,” said the band. ”’Skin Like a Cage’ was written for those who consistently rely on distractions to conceal their own unhappiness and remain oblivious to loneliness, but it also offers hope.”
