Singer-songwriter Josh Rouse has announced that his latest album, The Embers of Time, will be released later this year. His first LP since The Happiness Waltz, this 10-song collection spotlights Rouse’s confessional approach to lyrics and his innovative arrangements. In anticipation of the album’s release, Rouse has shared album track “New Young.”
“When I wrote this one I’d been reading a book by E.F. Schumacher called Small Is Beautiful,” Rouse said. “It’s about economics, but was written in the mid-70s and predicts what’s going on today with globalism and technology. Some of that comes through in some of the lyrics about how complicated life can be right now because of consumerism and technology. It’s about downshifting, moving to the country for and trying to live a bit more simply.”
