Vancouver-based indie band Yukon Blonde has just announced their third studio album, a follow-up to their breakout 2012 sophomore album Tiger Talk, and you can get your first taste of the new record with their single “Saturday Night,” which sounds like the soundtrack to the best ‘80s sci-fi movie you’ve never seen.
In order to build upon the infectious and energetic indie pop/rock they’ve established with their previous album, the band has been working with engineer and co-producer Colin Stewart and mixer Tony Hoffer for the new album.
“Saturday Night” sounds like a track to play before a night on the town during a weekend of endless possibilities, with a triumphant chorus and dynamic landscapes of psychedelic and synth pop waves that’ll have you ready to go late into the evening. Of course, it’s also possible you may wear yourself out dancing before you even make it outside.
The band will be at SXSW this week in Austin before joining Lieutenant (led by Foo Fighters and Sunny Day Real Estate bassist Nate Mendel) on tour. You can see the tour dates below and get tickets here.
