Record Store Day
is coming up fast, and Athens, Georgia band Futurebirds have announced that they’ll be adding to the bevy of special releases on Saturday with a split single with T. Hardy Morris. The track, “Painted Tears,” was written by frontman Carter King and features Steve Bassett (Delbert McClinton) on Wurlitzer.
”’Painted Tears’ is about people complaining of problems they’ve made for themselves, sometimes by design,” says King. “All wrapped up in a classic country breakup song, of course.”
In anticipation of the single’s release on Record Store Day this weekend, the band has released a lyric video for the track. The video features emoticons over scenes shot at the Quality Inn hot tub in Missoula, Montana. Do you really need to know any more than that?
Check out the video in the player above, and head to your local record store on Saturday to pick up the single on vinyl.
