At the second annual Rock the Court Charity Basketball Tournament held at the University of Toronto, Win Butler of Arcade Fire took part in the tournament. Surprise, Butler is really good at basketball.
Butler joined other musicians like Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam and Dallas Green of City and Colour for the charity event, playing alongside former NBA players Brent Barry and Paul Shirley and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Spencer Hawes. However, Butler seemed to start a rivalry with Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs after beating him in a three-point competition.
Tomorrow, Butler and Bonner will also be playing at the first annual POP vs. Jock Charity Basketball game in Montreal. Amongst others, they will also be joined by Chris Tomson of Vampire Weekend, while Butler’s wife and fellow Arcade Fire member Regine Chassagne will be playing the organ during the game. The halftime show will even feature Kid Koala and a bicycle symphony, “DRONES/Revelations,” that was composed by another Arcade Fire member, Richard Reed Parry.
