The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences hosted a special screening this week of the classic 1992 comedy Wayne’s World which was followed by a discussion panel with its cast and creators.
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reunited with costar Rob Lowe, executive producer Lorne Michaels and director Penelope Spheeris to share stories from set and talk about the sketch-turned-movie’s legacy. According to Splitsider, tickets for the event sold out in 90 seconds.
Myers explained the origins of Wayne Campell’s cable access program and Carvey also briefly impersonated Garth when reminiscing about the cast’s hours of improv. The duo also made jokes about Lowe’s extensive health regimen compared to their not-so-perfect physiques. Though they did not take part in the panel, Lara Flynn Boyle and Tia Carrere also appeared at the event.
The Academy provided a 9-minute video with a compilation of clips from the panel. Check out the hilarious reunion in the player above.
