In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Jay Carney ousted himself as a massive Guided By Voices fan boy, deeming the veteran indie-rockers as “the greatest rock-and-roll band in the modern era.”
While Jay Carney has hinted at his adoration for the Ohio-based quintet in the past, his conversation with The Post revealed his full-blown addiction to the prolific group. “Bob [Pollard] is in a class of his own” Carney said.
Jay Carney also revealed his untamed rock band alterego—well, not really, but he does continue to make “terrible, terrible” music with a group of former political assistants and media writers. At least he’s humble.
While the press secretary can no longer dedicate his time to cross-country travels to see his favorite band, it’s always nice to see these political figures humanized. Especially by learning that they get just as giddily excited over their favorite act as you do.
