Since 2009, ESPN’s award-winning documentary series 30 for 30 has paired slick editing with expert commentary to explore just about every facet of the sports world, from Olympic steroid abuse to the impact of military service on Arnold Schwarzenegger. But somehow they’ve managed to overlook the most incredible sports story of all: The nail-biter game between the Tune Squad and the Monstars at the end of Space Jam.
Luckily, the folks at Yahoo! have stepped in, creating what is almost certainly the best documentary about Michael Jordan and intergalactic cartoon slavers to come out this week. The 30 for 30 parody features real-life sports analysts Doug Gottlieb and Greg Anthony, but the best line goes to Fox Sports’ Larry Burnett, who says, “If you saw it in a movie, you wouldn’t believe it!” before adding, “And it’d be a pretty bad movie, too.”
