The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Script Will Be Published As A Book, Meaning Two More Harry Potter Books

Books News Harry Potter

If you’re one of the probably millions of Harry Potter fans who couldn’t shell out for a trip to London to see the upcoming canonical play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, you’re in luck; the play’s script will be published after the world premiere, according to Pottermore.

The story picks up where Deathly Hallows left off, 19 years after Voldemort’s demise. According to the official synopsis, we’ll see Harry struggle through some sort of Arthur Miller-ian job at the Ministry of Magic, haunted by aspects of his past, while his son Albus deals with his family’s legacy at Hogwarts. “Darkness comes from unexpected places,” it teases…here’s hoping young Albus doesn’t end up pulling a Ben Solo.

The play, written in two parts by Jack Thorne and based on a story by Thorne, J.K. Rowling, and John Tiffany, opens on London’s West End on Jul. 30. The version of the script set for publication shortly thereafter will be the version used in the preview performances; it’s being dubbed the “Special Rehearsal Edition.” A “Deluxe Collector’s Edition” is slated for release at an unspecified later date.
