Updated: Sofia Vergara Settles Advertising Lawsuit

Update: A previous version of this article incorrectly indicated that the value of Vergara’s settlement was $15 million—in fact, this was the amount for which Vergara initially sued. The article below has been updated to reflect this.

Original Story: Modern Family star, businesswoman and highest-paid woman in television Sofia Vergara has settled a lawsuit against the beauty company Venus Concept.

Vergara accused the company of illegally using her image for advertising purposes back in 2014. The issue started when Vergara posted a selfie of herself getting a massage with the Venus Legacy machine. The company was ecstatic to get a shout-out from such a high-profile celebrity, but took it a step too far when they began using Vergara’s image to make it seem as though Vergara had officially endorsed the product. According to legal documents obtained by ENTITY, Vergara was extremely unhappy about the fake endorsement, especially since she didn’t even enjoy the massage treatment. She called it a “waste of time and money with little in the way of any results,” and stated she would never think of promoting the product.

Many of the details about the settlement remain confidential, but ENTITY reports the lawsuit was dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning Vergara can’t re-sue the company. In other words, she was happy enough with the settlement to agree to never refile against Venus Concept.
