Adult Swim Greenlights Two Quarter-Hour Animated Comedies

Adult Swim has given the green light to two new shows set to premiere later this year, with Apollo Gauntlet coming this summer and Hot Streets coming this fall. These are two new action-packed comedy series that will join the ranks of a long list of great shows from the number-one basic cable programming block from Cartoon Network.

Both series come from dynamic studios and could not be more different from each other. Apollo Gauntlet, from Canadian animator Myles Langlois, is a quarter-hour comedy in the vein of old Saturday morning cartoons, set in a futuristic medieval society. Paul Cassidy is a cop who’s been transported to another world by the evil Dr. Benign, and fights crime with a pair of talking gauntlets and a magical suit.

Hot Streets, from writer Bryan Wysol (Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken) is a detective series where FBI Agent Mark Branski investigates unexplained supernatural goings on with his partner, his niece and her dog. Alongside Wysol as executive producers are Seth Green and Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty), as well as Matt Senreich, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner (Robot Chicken).

Both series figure to embrace the kind of absurdist comedy that Adult Swim has made so popular. Apollo Gauntlet debuts sometime this summer, and Hot Streets later in the fall.
