TV comedy’s been on a roll, lately, probably because the sad state of our country is ripe for the roasting. The latest to pitch his hat in the ring is Hasan Minhaj, who has already thrown a few hefty jabs through hosting this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner and being a senior correspondent on The Daily Show. In less than two weeks, however, the 31-year-old comedian will be given the floor once more, and for a full hour in the Netflix stand-up special Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, for which a new trailer has just debuted.
As advertised in the teaser and the brief accompanying synopsis, this segment will feature Minhaj grappling with “immigration, family, and equality”—in other words, very pertinent stuff. Moreover, the trailer shows the guy dropping some baller punchlines, with the delivery being smooth and easygoing rather than needlessly emphatic as with some comedians. Minhaj knows what to say and how to say it. We can’t wait to hear him speak.
