Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle to Pit Comedians Against Each Other

Comedy News

Jeff Ross has built a franchise on roasting everyone from celebrities to inmates, but now he’s giving the roastee the chance to be the roaster, and vice versa. The “Roast Master General” himself has developed a four-part miniseries called Roast Battle that will pit comedian against comedian at this year’s Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.

In what is essentially a fight club for the funny, comedians (yet to be announced) will take turns verbally beating each other in a bracket-style competition over four nights. A panel of celebrity judges will determine a winner at the end of each roast battle, and the fifth night will be a Roast Battle finale, with a Roast Champion being declared. While Jeff Ross is set to host, comedian Brian Moses will serve as a “referee.”

The first three nights of Roast Battle will air the day after they actually occur, airing at 10 p.m. EST on Comedy Central (The Comedy Network in Canada) from July 28-30. The finale will be broadcast live on July 31. Tickets are on sale now for the event, which require having already purchased a pass to the Just For Laughs Festival.

Roast Battle is the most fun I’ve ever had,” said Ross. “It’s the Olympics of insults and sometimes feelings get hurt. I got to give Comedy Central props for having the guts to put something so dangerous on the air.”
