After one comes two, and so One Mississippi has been renewed for a second season by Amazon. The series, which was created by Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody, stars Notaro in a semi-autobiographical role.
The notoriously sad comedy follows Notaro as she loses her mother, goes through a breakup and is diagnosed with cancer in rapid succession. The show premiered to stellar reviews on Amazon, and is part of a recent wave of comedies focused on grieving and sadness.
The new batch of episodes will premiere sometime in 2017. Notaro’s life has been somewhat happier in the year since the first season premiered, but her well of sadness runs deep, and depressing material can always be found somewhere. Maybe the second season will be about the election.
