On Sept. 9, 1984, dignitaries from throughout the entertainment industry paid tribute to legendary music promoter Bill Graham at the Marin Civic Auditorium in San Rafael, Cali. In between sets by Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, George Thorogood and other musicians, a variety of comedians performed, including Robin Williams. The former star of Mork and Mindy, fresh off Moscow on the Hudson and a few years into a legendary movie career, free associated his way through a manic seven minutes of jokes about Graham, music and California.
