Exclusive Dark Horse Reveal: Aliens: Dead Orbit Diamond Retailer Summit Variant Cover by Rafael Albuquerque

Paste is thrilled and chilled to exclusively reveal Rafael Albuquerque’s haunting Diamond Retailer Summit variant cover for Aliens: Dead Orbit #1, which hits shelves on Alien Day (or April 26th, to those not in the know). The four-issue mini-series sets visionary Orc Stain writer/artist James Stokoe loose to pursue his claustrophobic, H. R. Giger-influenced take on the acid-blooded Xenomorph. Rather than chase the run-and-gun sci-fi action of James Cameron’s 1986 sequel, Aliens (R.I.P., Bill Paxton), Stokoe seems to be homing in on the horror of director Ridley Scott’s 1979 original film, with a lone engineer pitted against the near-unstoppable monstrosity aboard a derelict vessel. Rafael Albuquerque taps into that tight-quarters terror with his ghostly, black-and-white variant cover, available exclusively at the Diamond Retailer Summit, on April 19th and 20th in Chicago. Check out the full cover and solicitation info below, and be sure to come back next month for a chat with Aliens architect Stokoe.
