An Innocent Soul is Endangered in This Exclusive The Girl in the Bay #3 Preview

Dark Horse Comics’ Berger Books imprint, curated by legendary former Vertigo editor Karen Berger, continues to make waves with its latest slate of original series. First off the block in 2019 was The Girl in the Bay from writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Corin Howell, in which a 17-year-old girl is brutally attacked and thrown into Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay. When she miraculously survives and emerges from the water, she discovers that 50 years have passed, and a doppelganger has lived out her life in her place.

DeMatteis has one of the most impressive legacies in modern comics, leaving his mark on everything from Amazing Spider-Man to Justice League to fiercely original concepts like Moonshadow and Greenberg the Vampire. Howell, meanwhile, is one of the busiest artists of 2019, with her work simultaneously hitting shelves in the pages of AfterShock’s Dark Red and fellow Dark Horse title Calamity Kate. Paste readers can check out an exclusive preview of The Girl in the Bay #3 below, just ahead of its release in comic shops and via digital retailers this Wednesday.
