We do our best to keep this monthly gallery to a reasonable size, but hot dang, February tested our self-restraint. If you don’t spend your days trawling solicitation material online, you might not be aware that DC Comics’ variant program is currently producing some of the most striking covers on stands, from JG Jones’ eerie Justice League white-out to Dave Johnson’s iconic triple-bat Batman Beyond. It’s not just the variants though: Ryan Sook stunned on Deathstroke, of all books, and Frank Quitely completed his “Milk Wars” triptych this month—with Rian Hughes’ meta-textual Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye/Swamp Thing Special #1 cover finishing off the “Milk Wars” one-shot hat trick. We can’t give all the credit to the home of Superman, Batman and Ambush Bug, though. The Wicked + The Divine: 1923 wowed us in both standard and variant format, Javier Rodriguez maintained the proud tradition of trippy Legion covers, Judas #3 snagged a variant worthy of museum collections everywhere and Twisted Romance finished off with a gorgeous fairy tale illustration from Trungles. You try narrowing down an assemblage of art this gag-worthy!
