Exclusive Preview: Ann Nocenti Gets Tarred & Feathered in Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror #3

Earlier today, we published our perilous picks for the 15 Best Horror Comics of 2018, and now we’re finishing off your Thursday with a look at another spooky treat. Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror from upstart publisher AHOY Comics takes a more satirical approach to scares, and the upcoming issue #3, out the day after Christmas, features a story from The Seeds writer Ann Nocenti. AHOY, led by Publisher Hart Seeley, Chief Creative Officer Frank Cammuso and former Vertigo editors Tom Peyer and Stuart Moore, is focused on magazine-format comics, which combine sequential art from creators like Mark Russell and Jamal Igle with poems, short cartoon strips, prose fiction and other formats. As the cover to Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror #3 suggests, AHOY seems more than slightly influenced by MAD Magazine—which, in today’s overly serious world, isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
