Kate Moss in Latest Alexander McQueen Campaign

Kate Moss may be newly 40, but she’s still one of the hardest working names in fashion. Her latest endeavor? Fronting a campaign for Alexander McQueen. Moss was a close friend of McQueen (who died in 2010), but this is her first time acting as brand ambassador.

The campaign, shot by Steven Klein, depicts the waifish model sporting cropped yellow-orange hair, reminiscent of David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust phase. The looks from the Spring/Summer 2014 line seem to be inspired by some sort of futuristic gladiator—complete with gold cuffs up and down the arms, a leather pleated skirt, croc-embossed bra top and an enviable panther knuckle-clutch.

Klein also directed a promotional video accompanying the campaign—much like Louis Vuitton did with Invitation Au Voyage which also featured David Bowie (are we seeing a pattern here?). However, the McQueen video is much darker and true to its own aesthetic. An unknown voyeur stalks Moss through dark, empty streets. His hands, marked with knuckle tattoos that read “SKIN,” carry two things: a Super 8 camera and a voodoo doll replica of Moss. Unperturbed, Moss allows the stalker to follow her into an abandoned building where she begins to disrobe. (It’s just as surreal and creepy as it sounds.) Check it out along with pictures of the campaign and the S/S ’14 line at the McQueen website.
