I first caught wind of Champion Brewing Company, out of Charlottesville, Virginia, because of their perfectly-named “Shower Beer,” a Czech pilsner built for getting naked and soaping up. It’s well-documented that drinking a beer while in the shower is like taking an 11-minute vacation, so I was naturally drawn to the beer. It also didn’t hurt that Shower Beer won gold in the Bohemian Style Pilsener category at the Great American Beer Festival in 2015. This year, Champion Brewing is shaking up their labels, working with Watermark Design to create a looser, hand-drawn aesthetic that absolutely pops off the dramatic background created by the new black cans. The redesign started with a couple of seasonals and is starting to take over the entire lineup in 2017. Take a look at the gallery for some of our favorites from the brewery.

True Love is a Mexican style lager brewed in collaboration with Cockfight Skateboards. It's 4.5% and easy drinking as hell, with or without a lime.

Melee is a session IPA, coming it at a low 4.2%, and hopped with Citra and Amarillo hops. Super citrusy.

The Pils are Alive is yet another beer that falls into the session category—a pilsner dry-hopped with Citra for an incredible nose.

Hogwaller Scramble is named after the truck that ran kegs from Champion's brewery to its taproom. It's a breakfast stout brewed with coffee and chocolate.

This "robust porter," dubbed Race Car, hit the market last fall, and it won't be returning this year, but it might be my favorite label of them all.
