Beards and craft beer. Is there a better match in the world? They go together like Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake riding a tandem bike. I’m not saying that you have to have a full beard to enjoy a good beer; there are plenty of clean shaven dudes and baby-faced ladies who love to knock back an IPA or two. But you can’t argue that there is an unusually high percentage of craft beer fans who sport facial hair. If craft beer had a uniform, some sort of beard would be an essential part of it. And since we’re in the midst of “no-shave November,” when desk jockeys all over the country get the green light from their bosses and wives to grow some sort of facial hair to raise cancer awareness, I thought it would be a good time to celebrate that intersection between beards and beer.

The Whisker Dam fits over your cup and guards your mustache against the beverage you're consuming so it doesn't get all frothy. I know what you're thinking: "we used to go to the moon, and now this is the height of American ingenuity." Sigh.

This is the month you should seek out beers from Moustache Brewing Co., a small brewery out of Long Island, New York. They don't can or bottle, but they love facial hair so make the trip.

And here we have the Beerded Beard Company, which makes beard grooming products out of beer ingredients, like this hop-infused beard balm. Am I the only one who wants my beard to smell like Mosaic hops?

The Ale Glass, from Pretentious Glass Company takes your standard ale pint and throws a mustache on it. This is perfect for the folks who want to participate in no-shave November, but can't get past the peach fuzz state.

If there was ever a time to drink Chucktown Follicle Brown from Charleston's Holy City Brewing, that time is now. Look at that magnificent beard! Also, it's a solid brown ale and we're in solid brown ale season, so…

And finally, the good people from Good People Brewing, in Alabama, make a beer honoring the ladies out there who would love to participate in all these facial hair shenanigans. Bearded Lady is a low ABV wheat beer. And I really like how her beard balances out her bun.
