Dust and Chrome

Words by Sean Moeller, Illustration by Johnnie Cluney, Recording engineered by Mike Gentry

I hate those mornings where you wake up and feel like you maybe slept solidly for an hour or two but otherwise were tossing and turning or rolling around with the resident thoughts from your day. These tend to come following great intentions, a conscious effort to get to bed and get your precious rest. These nights often feel like miserable chases. They feel like the objective is to talk your head out of the thousand things it can't help but mull or worry about. The converse to all of this are those spectacularly sprawling nights where there is no intention of ever resting. They're meant to just burn hot forever into the blackened blue morning light. Willie Nedrow of Dust & Chrome traffics in these kinds of situations, where there's a desire to spiral off into the ether just so that you can get lost. There's some kind of connection to an eternal world that has no zip code or door knobs. There's no real way to find it, other than through luck and happenstance and maybe some peyote.
