How’d you like to win free pizza for life? Well, Pizza Hut is about to give you that chance, and all you need to do is pick a number.
Granted, you need to pick the correct number, and the issue of course is that there are oh so many different numbers out there to pick. But what they’re looking for is the total number of dominoes knocked over in the above video. So get ready to start counting. Don’t worry, we’ll wait right here for you to finish. It’s only a world record number of pizza-shaped dominoes.
Done yet? What are you thinking? 10,000? 100,000? 1 MILLION FREAKIN’ DOMINOES?!? I think it’s safe to say that we have no idea, but it’s hard not to be blown away by the sheer creativity and feat of precision that is on display. The set-up above was created by 14 “master domino artists,” and took a full two days for that team to construct. It’s fiendishly complex and makes use of Pizza Hut boxes as giant dominoes at times, but our favorite part is the huge pizza at the end, and the corresponding little catapults that fire tiny pizza toppings onto it. It has just the right blend of Rube Goldbergian whimsy and perfect execution.
The whole thing is of course a stunt to advertise the brand’s new Hut Rewards program, which rewards customers with points for each dollar they spend on pizza. The winner will be whoever comes closest to the total number of dominoes and submits their guess to HutRewards@PizzaHut.com, while also signing up for the Hut Rewards program. To quote Pizza Hut:
Guesses must be submitted between Thursday, Aug. 24 at 6 a.m. CT and Thursday, Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. CT. The first person to guess correctly will be awarded free pizza for life in the form of 312,000 points deposited into their Hut Rewards account, which is good for one pizza, every other week for 60 years. Fans must be a member of Hut Rewards to be eligible to win.
That is one hell of a lot of pizza. Can we use this post to submit an official guess at the number of dominoes? Let’s just say we can. Paste’s guess: 694,548 dominoes. We feel good about this.
