The first expansion of Ubisoft’s Assassin Creed Origins, The Hidden Ones, is officially slated for release on Jan. 23, but some Xbox One players have already gained access to the new region of Sinai one week early.
The game released its latest patch yesterday that added support for the new DLC, among other things, but the patch’s installment unintentionally allowed some players to access the new content through the in-game store. Per an Ubisoft community manager, the error happened due to a misconfiguration of the in-game store and has since been corrected.
Ubisoft is not removing access for players that received it during the short window of availability, as it might cause complications with save files. In a statement to Kotaku, Ubisoft deemed these players “The Lucky Ones.” However, the publisher is requesting that its community not spoil the game publicly: “We ask to keep any discussion regarding the expansion in the spoiler designated sub-forum.” For those wanting to catch an early glimpse, Reddit has you covered.
The Hidden Ones will launch on Jan. 23, followed by two more DLC expansions in the spring. The educational “museum” mode Discovery Tour will release on Feb. 20 and the second large story expansion, The Curse of the Pharaohs, will release on March 6.
